why I founded the hendy collective…
Having spent almost a decade in consultancy, on the back of a decade in academia, I know first-hand that the challenges of identity, personal and professional growth, and honest critical reflection take their toll on us as we strive to be the best version of ourselves in every arena of our lives. My experience is anchored in this combination - the academic-practitioner coach - I know the theories (I taught them), I’ve lived the ‘transformations’ (I’ve led them) and now I’m bringing both elements together to offer something new that harnesses the best of both - evidence-based coaching.
My own career has been a series of decisions, instinctive moves and industry transitions, influenced by the trusted mentors and coaches I have collaborated with over the years. And I will happily confess that some of those decisions didn’t always work out the way I’d planned… It’s easy to dwell on the failures - but learning how to replicate success was the real breakthrough.
What I have learnt about myself (and others) over this time can be condensed to this - when I give myself the gift of time and space for insight and critical reflection, I can lead authentically, and empower others around me to do the same.
Leadership is Both Personal and Systemic
Most coaching focuses on individual behavioural change. Most consulting focuses on organisational systems. Authentic leadership requires both.
I help leaders develop themselves while simultaneously transforming their organisations. You don't just become a better thinker—you become a leader who creates better organisations.
Transformation Takes Time
There are no quick fixes in leadership development. Real capability building, sustainable behaviour change, and organisational transformation all require sustained effort over months, not days.
That's why I prefer partnerships over transactional packages—because meaningful change requires ongoing support through the messy reality of implementation.
Evidence Over Intuition
Every framework I use, every approach I recommend, every strategy I suggest is grounded in either research evidence or proven transformation experience (ideally both).
You deserve coaching based on what actually works, not what sounds good in motivational speeches.
My Philosophy
What to Expect
the foundation
We establish clear goals, assess your current situation, and create a development roadmap grounded in both your aspirations and organisational reality.
Ongoing Work
Evidence-based frameworks tailored to your specific challenges
Real-world application, not just theoretical discussion
Accountability and support between sessions
Flexible approach that adapts to your evolving needs
My Role
Strategic thought partner, not just motivational supporter
Challenge your thinking while supporting your development
Provide frameworks, tools, and resources grounded in research

What I'm Not
A therapist (though coaching can be deeply personal)
Someone who'll tell you what to do (you're the expert on your context)
A quick-fix solution (real development takes time)
Generic or formulaic (every client's situation is unique).
